The data.org Inclusive Growth and Recovery Challenge

Rules & Timeline

The Challenge seeks submissions focused on ensuring that the benefits of a growing economy extend to all segments of society.

Proposed solutions can be for and from anywhere in the world. We are particularly interested in the areas listed below – but welcome other proposals for using data science to advance inclusive growth.

HOW IT WORKS

The data.org Inclusive Growth Challenge will be accepting submissions from March 31 through May 29, 2020. The Challenge will include two evaluation phases. Technical assistance and mentoring will be available to finalists in the second phase to refine proposal submissions.

WHO CAN ENTER

The Challenge is open to any individual, organization, or collaboration from anywhere in the world. We welcome entries from the following:

• Nonprofits
• For-profits
• Individuals 18+ and above
• Governments and U.N. agencies

All entries must have charitable purposes and accrue no private benefit.

With regrets, we do not accept entries from individuals and teams that reside, or are located in, Crimea, Cuba, Iran, Sudan, North Korea, or Syria.

JUDGING CRITERIA

All entries will be evaluated based on the following:

• Impactful: Does the proposed entry seem to solve an important inclusive growth challenge?
• Breakthrough: Is this idea insightful and new to demonstrate the application of data science?
• Replicable: Is this a proposal that can be adapted to different cases?
• Scalable: Is this idea has the potential to be expanded on a larger scale?
• Practical: Is the proposal offering a pragmatic data science idea for social impact?
• Execution: Does the applicant seem to have the capacity, plan and/or strategies in place to execute the proposed project?
